So, you’ve decided to have a wedding out of ‘peak’ season, and we are absolutely here for it! At RGE, we believe an autumnal wedding offers a unique and beautiful backdrop for your special day. Here are some things to think about when planning an autumn wedding:
Golden hour – The autumn season brings a riot of rich and warm colours, the skyline on a clear day is to die for… sometimes better than a summer sunset! The changing, falling leaves, with their shades of red, orange, and gold, will provide a breathtaking backdrop to any outdoor photography. Make sure you factor in getting a golden hour in with your photographer, sneak away for 20 minutes and enjoy some time together as the sun goes down.
Our favourite photographers to capture the day are Benjamin Wheeler & Lucy Henzell
Comfortable Weather – Autumn often brings milder temperatures, making it a comfortable time for both indoor and outdoor weddings. You can enjoy the crisp, cool air without the extreme heat of summer or the cold of winter. This is a perfect excuse for the gents to bring out the black tie, and the ladies to rock their favourite cocktail dresses, without melting in the sweltering sun! Plus, a black-tie wedding makes for some gorgeous photos.
Unique styling – This season offers a wealth of styling direction. Get creative and utilise this season’s natural props! Pumpkins, pinecones, and rustic autumnal foliage. You can create a sensational cozy and inviting atmosphere with warm, earthy tones – all at a very low cost! The autumn season has a cosy, romantic feel, allowing you to incorporate elements like fire pits, blankets, and warm lighting to create an intimate and inviting ambience for you and your guests.
Seasonal Flowers: Autumn boasts a variety of beautiful blooms like dahlias, chrysanthemums, and sunflowers. Chat with your florist and create some mood boards, these types of flowers can be incorporated into your bouquet, centrepieces, and decor, adding a touch of rustic elegance. They often last a lot longer than your Spring/Summer flowers, so you’ll most likely prop them up at home post-wedding, for you to enjoy for a little longer!

Comfort Food: This cosy season is ALL about comfort food. You could incorporate seasonal dishes like a heartwarming winter stew, an apple crumble & custard or an extravagant cheese board, into your wedding menu. Guests will appreciate the delicious, hearty feast. Again, get creative. Food doesn’t have to be formal – sharing cheese or chocolate fondu at the table is a total showstopper and encourages all your guests to get chatting.
